Things don't always go to plan
When I was pregnant with my now 2 year old daughter I had a basic understanding of the different types of pain relief: Medicated and drug free options.
It didn't sit well to put medications into myself for pain relief during her birth when I knew that there is a drug free options in TENS machines.
A TENS machine sounded like a better option to me, I could be mobile, change the intensity, and be drug free.
However my daughters birth didn't go as I had planned, meaning I was unable to use a TENS machine. My midwife was bringing it once I got into established labour, except I didn't get to that point sadly.
Knowing now that a TENS machine should be used from very early labour I wish I had hired one, (At this point I wasn't the owner of my business)
Having a Birth Buddy (TENS Machine), would have assisted me in not needing Gas and Air, which made me feel nauseated.
I fully believe that you need to have a birth idea, and be flexible with what happens. This was very much the case for me, I had wanted a vaginal birth, with no medicated pain relief, and to go to a birth centre afterwards. Unfortunately, that wasn't able to happen. But I'll save that story for another post.
